Launched at WHA72: Framework for Action to Strengthen Midwifery Education for #UHC
The Framework for Action to Strengthen Midwifery Education report was launched last week at the 72nd World Health Assembly.
The Framework was developed by WHO, UNFPA, UNICEF and ICM to guide the development of high-quality, sustainable midwifery education to save lives and improve the quality of care for mothers and their newborns.
ICM CEO Dr Sally Pairman took part in the launch and noted that: “This report tells us why we need to change, what we need to change and how to make those changes. The Action Plan recognizes that midwifery education does not stand alone. Like a midwife in practice, education needs an enabling environment in which to flourish. Educating midwives is more than a curriculum." To read an excerpt of Dr Sally Pairman's speech click here.
