Call for ABSTRACTS

THE ICM ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE

TO BE HELD IN HANOI 25 -26 JULY, 2012

The Asia Pacific Region Scientific and Professional Program Committee

on behalf of the

Vietnamese Association of Midwives

2015 is looming and despite efforts to reach Millennium Development Goals 4 and 5, women and their newborn die unnecessarily during and following childbirth. Many countries in our Region have some the worlds’ highest maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality rates. This conference highlights the need to further develop midwifery so that all women and children in our Region experience the same health outcomes as the majority of women in countries in Asia Pacific like Japan, Australia, Singapore, and New Zealand. VAM, as a member of the International Confederation of Midwives, urges you to participate in this important event.

Conference Theme: Midwives for Women and Children, let’s take action! The theme focuses on the improvement of the health of women, infants and their families. The Conference will focus on important midwifery issues related to reproductive health and especially Safe Motherhood.

Informed by the ICM pillars of midwifery: education; regulation; and association development we invite you to submit an abstract on the following sub-themes:

Maternal & Newborn care
Family Planning
Strengthening midwifery and promoting the health of women, newborns and their family
Reproductive health care for adolescents
HIV from mother to child
Early detection of breast and cervical cancer
Domestic Violence

VAM invites midwives, researchers and other health care providers with special interest in the above topics to submit abstracts. All abstracts must be submitted in English, and contain no more than 350 words. The number of words should be noted at the bottom of the abstract and no images, charts or tables are allowed. Please indicate if the abstract is to be considered for podium presentation or poster presentation.

Author information. Please provide: name, title, qualifications, affiliation, e-mail address, phone number and a declaration of no conflict of interest. These items are not included in the 350 word limit.

Selected abstracts will be assigned to one of the following presentation formats.
